Tristin Morton (she/her) is an emerging writer-producer who centres representation and community in her work. Stories have the power to be transformative and identity-affirming, so to expand the representation of marginalized groups and their experiences is to expand opportunities, uplift communities, and affirm the lives and experiences of the underrepresented.

Her first production – shooting September 2026 – will be the short film TIDAL LOCKED, a sapphic romance in which two ex-girlfriends on an isolated beach reexamine their past relationship through the classic game of spin the bottle; starring Jess Smith (THE LOST WIFE OF ROBERT DURST, ROUND AND ROUND) and Donna Benedicto (ALERT, EXMAS), and directed by the multi-talented Yvonne Chapman (AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, SUPERMAN & LOIS).

Following the momentum of the short film, Tristin will turn her focus to TIME WITH HER, a sapphic romance with a grounded time travel element and a GEMFest feature screenplay competition finalist; starring Sophia Lauchlin Hirt (BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE, CARDINAL), Donna Benedicto, and Jess Smith, and directed by Yvonne Chapman. The story follows a grieving widow, who thanks to Tymlee’s new time travel technology, grows obsessed with reliving her brief marriage to the woman of her dreams until she stumbles onto a way to change their past and give them more time.

After building her career over sixteen years – across Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal – Tristin has finally returned to island life, basing Hearth Productions Inc. on Vancouver Island. Her experience growing up in BC's Gulf Islands has inspired the creation of PARDON ME, a murder mystery procedural series set in the “Politest Town in Canada” where not-so-polite things are happening and the “well-mannered” townsfolk need their own mother-daughter constable duo to get to the bottom of each suspicious “accident”; to be produced by Rayne Zukerman of Balzac Productions and led by rising star Yvonne Chapman, together the trio of women are currently pitching the island-based series.

Moved by the documentary work of Producer-Director Kevin Eastwood, Tristin, in her capacity as a screenwriter, approached him to produce and direct THE ARREST, a feature film that follows two female paramedics hiding their trauma and dangerous coping methods throughout relentless shift work. Thanks to development funding from Telefilm the first draft screenplay is strong and ready for partners who will shepherd it through production.

Tristin has had the privilege of being championed by many talented and generous producers and writers from the beginning of her career in the industry.

As a Story Editor on CBC's STREET LEGAL: THE REBOOT, Tristin worked closely with Executive Producer and Showrunner Bruce Smith, travelling to Montreal for the entirety of production and getting hands on mentorship from the industry icon. Her time in the story department on VAN HELSING S2 was short but memorable, building relationships with fellow screenwriters that she values to this day. Her first position in a story department was as Script Coordinator for the legendary Chris Haddock on season one of THE ROMEO SECTION where she was encouraged to visit set as often as she could and learn. His encouragement along with Co-Producer Jesse McKeown's mentorship created a solid foundation on which she was able to build her career. On season two she was promoted to Story Editor and chosen for the CMPA's BC Story Department Internship program.

Working as Director of Development under Tina Pehme, Kim Roberts, and Vic Sarin at Sepia Films was the best training ground she could ask for. She started as an intern and worked her way up, filling various roles when in production, and transforming the development department.

Tristin has never taken for granted the relationships she has built throughout her career, seeing them and her communities as the reason she is where she is today.
